Custom Region Content
The Content Website allows users in your region to search for and access GrapeSEED curriculum content. Alongside the main content depository, as a region administrator you may upload and manage custom content for users in your region to access as well.
How to Create a Custom Content Category
Before you may upload custom region content to the Content Website, you must first create a category for your custom region content. To do so, navigate to the Content Website and click on Administration in the top menu bar. Clck on Manage Content.
This will open the 'Manage Content' page. On the 'Manage Content' page there are two sides. The left side contains the Global Content, and the right side contains Region Content. Your region's name will be above Global Content
If there is no category on the Region Content side click on Add Category. In the popup, enter the name of your custom content category in the field next to Name. When you are satisfied, click on Save. To cancel, click on Cancel.
You must create a category in order to upload custom content to your region.
How to Upload Custom Content
Once you have added a category, you will see the category's name in the list under Region Content on the 'Manage Content' page with 3 icons next to it, a icon, a
icon, and a
icon.
Click on the icon. This will open the 'Add Content Type' popup window. Enter the name of your new content type into the form field. Once you are satisfied, click on Save to save the content type. To cancel, click on Cancel.
This will add the content type to your category, and you will see it below your category name with four icons next to it, an icon, an
icon, an
icon, and a
icon.
Click on the icon. This will allow you to directly upload files from your computer or device. These include audio, video, docx, and PDF files. Add the custom content you would like. Once you are satisfied, click on Save in the bottom right corner of the 'Region Content' side. To cancel, click on Cancel.
How to View Custom Content
Once you have added your custom content, you may view it on the Content Website. Below Digital Content on the right hand side of the page you will see your region's name. Click on it. This will open the custom content and content types you uploaded with the names you provided.
Depending on what content type you uploaded, you will have the option to download, view, watch, or listen to the custom content directly from this page. Your content will be listed with icons next to it.
To download a piece of custom content, click on the icon. To view an image, click on the
icon. To listen to an audio file, click on the
icon. To watch a video, click on the
icon.
Content that can be replayed will be projected in a content viewer with options to pause, rewind, and fast forward. PDF Images will be viewed in a PDF viewer. Docx files can only be downloaded.
How to Manage Custom Content
To remove a piece of custom content, go to the 'Manage Content' page. Below Region Content, click on the icon next to the piece of content you would like to remove. Once you are satisfied, click on Save. To cancel, click on Cancel.
To edit a content category or content type's name, click on the icon next to the category or type you would like to rename. This will open a popup form field where you may add your new name.
How to Manage Content Roles
As region administrator, you may decide what custom content types users in your region may have access to. To do so, click on the icon next to the content type. This will open the Manage Roles popup for that content type. In the 'Manage Roles' popup, click on the form field to open a drop down menu of all the user types in your region.
From the drop down menu, select the user role or roles you would like to associate with that content type. Once you are satisfied with your selections, click on Ok. To cancel, click on Cancel.
Now the users you selected will have access to your custom content type from the Content website.
How to Share Custom Content
You may also share custom content to users who have access to it directly via a link. To do so, find the piece of custom content you want to share by clicking on your region's name below Digital Content on the Content Website homepage.
View the content:
- Image files - click on the
icon.
- Audio files - click on the
icon.
- Video files - click on the
icon.
- PDF files - click on the
icon.
Once you have your custom content open the viewer, it will create a custom URL in your web address box. Copy the URL and send it to the user or users you would like to share the custom content with.
